Kursi Tunku

The Tunku Abdul Rahman Chair was established in 1983 as an academic chair for International Law under Universiti Malaya following an endowment of RM 1 million by YTAR that was collected from the government, private institutions and generous individuals. The Chair was a gift to YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman for his 80th birthday on the 8th February 1983.

The Chair was established to assist the governance of the nation to overcome current issues pertaining to security, safety and unity. The Chair is also an effort to recognize the contributions of Tunku Abdul Rahman.

Professor Ian Campbell MacGibbon was the first individual to be awarded the Chair in June 1985. The current holder of the chair is Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Shad Saleem Faruqi.
