About the Tunku Community Legacy Fund
What is now Yayasan Tunku Abdul Rahman (YTAR) initially started as Tabung Pendidikan Tunku Abdul Rahman in 1966, which was established by funds donated by the Malaysian public. Recalling this Malaysian giving spirit, it is only apt that we introduce the Tunku Community Legacy Fund.
The Tunku Community Legacy Fund is a memorial scholarship and legacy donation fund under YTAR. This will be our first scholarship fund dedicated to carrying forward the legacies of donors, as it contributes towards building a more equitable Malaysia by supporting the education of high-need, high-potential youth.

What is a Legacy Gift?
A legacy gift, or a planned gift, is a donation arranged or planned in the present, through a will or an estate (assets owned by a person at the time of one’s death), which will only be granted after the donor has passed. Your legacy gift to YTAR will contribute directly to our scholarship programme, Tunku Abdul Rahman Scholarship, under the Tunku Community Legacy Fund.
At YTAR, we believe that a legacy donation is a gift to our shared future. Your gift ensures the continuation of Tunku’s values and ideals to the next generation of young, deserving Malaysians. But what you give will not only support our values - it also ensures the continuity of yours.
Our Donor's Story

Our inaugural RM1 million fund was contributed by an anonymous donor who recently passed away.
His contribution to our fund was
motivated by a strong desire to
give back to everyday Malaysians
who have helped him succeed,
and to support other young
Malaysians facing similar
challenges in their higher
education journey.

These are some of our Scholars who have benefited from the Tunku Community Legacy Fund this year:

Muhammad Ariff Shuqran Bin Ismail hails from a family of 8 in Perlis. After dropping out of his diploma studies, Ariff took a 6-year gap and worked multiple jobs, including a stint as a Grab driver. He currently pursues a Malay Literature degree at Universiti Malaya (UM), which is coincidentally our donor’s alma mater.

Chew Cai San, is an Orang Asli Scholar who is the second in her family to pursue higher education. Her strong interest in psychology and mental health led her to pursue Perguruan dengan Bimbingan dan Kaunseling at Institut Pendidikan Guru, Kampus Tengku Ampuan Afzan.

Ashwinie A/P Perumal, hails from a small island near Port Klang and was raised in a rural Indian community. She now leads a motivational camp project to inspire rural Indian students to pursue higher education, and has successfully conducted it across several states. Ashwinie is currently studying law in UniSZA, and hopes to serve her community as a lawyer.
