Introduction

Unlock our youths' potential,
Unleash Malaysia's potential.

At the Tunku Abdul Rahman Foundation, we seek to uphold YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman's legacy—that Malaysia can only thrive by creating an equitable and diverse society that includes the voices and uplifts the lives of all.

To achieve this, we believe in unlocking the potential of youth in Malaysia, particularly those who come from underserved and underrepresented backgrounds, through higher education access, mentoring, scholarship, and development programmes.

We hope our youth will carry Tunku's unifying legacy

not only by becoming leaders of their lives

but also leaders of their communities and the nation.

Our
History

The Tunku Abdul Rahman Foundation was established in 1966 by an Act of Parliament in honour of YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman. The Foundation initially began its work by granting education loans worth RM 20 million to support students as they pursue their studies. In 2006, the loans were replaced with the BTAR Tunku Abdul Rahman Scholarship: An undergraduate scholarship programme for high potential youth across Malaysia.

Since 2019, the Foundation has revamped its strategy by introducing a 2-year leadership development component to the BTAR scholarship. The Foundation also expanded its programmes by bringing in Closing The Gap, a higher education access mentoring programme for secondary school students, sponsoring youth on vocational programmes and introducing employability upskilling programmes such as FutureReady and Google Gemilang.

Our Vision

We believe in building a thriving, equitable and inclusive Malaysian society where every person is able to achieve the full potential of themselves and the nation.

Our Programmes

Our programmes are designed with one central goal in mind: to empower under-represented youths as leaders of themselves, their communities, and the nation. We support them to achieve this goal through 3 key milestones in young adulthood:
