Follow the story of our 2020 Tunku Scholar, Sara Salimi, as she ventures on a similar path to Tunku's in order to help those who are less fortunate.
Sara’s collective experiences with those whom she met on the streets reignited her interest to pursue her undergraduate studies in Anthropology and Sociology. Sara’s journey depicts “access delayed, is not always access denied” as she secured the Tunku Abdul Rahman Scholarship to pursue her tertiary education at Universiti Malaya.
Despite the adversities faced, our 2020 Tunku Scholar, Flora, has been empowered by members of her community such as her mother, family members and university support staff who have helped her pave the path to be the first in the family to go to university. Flora’s inspiring journey is a testament to the proverb “it takes a village to raise a child”.
TO EACH OTHER
For Mother's Day, our 2020 Tunku Scholar, Flora, and her mother wrote a letter to each other to express the things that often go unsaid.
In honour of Almarhum Tunku Abdul Rahman’s 118th birthday on the 8th of February 2021, we proudly present an illustrated story of Tunku's compassion for the people during an era of great war and tragedy.
