Sara’s collective experiences with those whom she met on the streets reignited her interest to pursue her undergraduate studies in Anthropology and Sociology. Sara’s journey depicts “access delayed, is not always access denied” as she secured the Tunku Abdul Rahman Scholarship to pursue her tertiary education at Universiti Malaya.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD

Despite the adversities faced, our 2020 Tunku Scholar, Flora, has been empowered by members of her community such as her mother, family members and university support staff who have helped her pave the path to be the first in the family to go to university. Flora’s inspiring journey is a testament to the proverb “it takes a village to raise a child”.
